Māia Health Foundation Continues to Make Strides in Supporting Health Initiatives

In its ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services and supporting medical professionals, the Māia Health Foundation continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at improving patient care and advancing medical research.

One such initiative is the management of the Nicola Robinson Scholarship, which funds an annual scholarship for a Health NZ nurse working in the adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer service. This scholarship not only recognizes the dedication of nurses in this specialized field but also encourages further education and training to better serve AYA cancer patients.

Additionally, Māia facilitates the provision of Medical Mediation Training for staff within Child Health. By offering this training, Māia aims to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to navigate complex medical situations and ensure the best possible outcomes for pediatric patients and their families.

Furthermore, Māia oversees the rare pediatric cancers clinical trial fund at the Australian and New Zealand Children’s Haematology and Oncology Group (ANZCHOG), supported by the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust. This fund plays a crucial role in advancing research efforts aimed at finding innovative treatments and improving survival rates for children with rare forms of cancer.

In addition to supporting medical research, Māia administers the Sue Bradford Memorial Fund, which supports research into practical therapies for the treatment of bipolar disorder. This fund honors the memory of Sue Bradford and her commitment to mental health advocacy, ensuring that her legacy continues to positively impact individuals affected by bipolar disorder.

As Māia Health Foundation continues to expand its reach and impact in the healthcare sector, it invites individuals to join its journey of transformation. By donating to Māia, individuals can contribute to initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families.
