Māia ambulances have attended 6,229 incidents from Hanmer to Ashburton

Māia Health Foundation and Hato Hone St John are so grateful to our generous, anonymous, donor for the incredible gift of two ambulances to the South Island Region.

Those two ambulances, have, together attended (as at 27 March 2023) 6,229 incidents and have transported 4,728 patients to a treatment centre of which 38.7% were triaged as life-threatening or time-critical. They have travelled 138,807 kilometres and have supported Canterbury communities from Hanmer Springs to Ashburton.

"The impact of these gifts cannot be underestimated", Charlotte Broms, Hato Hone St John Area Operations Manager for Ōtautahi Christchurch, explains.

“The generous donation of frontline Ambulances allows Hato Hone St John access to the most up-to-date equipment possible to positively benefit both patients and staff.

"We are committed to delivering service to our communities that is focused on health outcomes, promotes equity of service and ensures patient care and safety.
