Help Māia bring 60 parent beds to the children's facilities at Christchurch Hospital
A well-rested parent can better support their whānau
When a child is in hospital, little can convince a worried parent to leave their side.
With a shortage of suitable sleeping options for parents in the children’s wards at Christchurch Hospital, this often means sleeping upright or in uncomfortable conditions.
Māia is bringing 60 fold down parent beds to the children’s wards in the new acute services building at Christchurch Hospital.
These custom-built, hospital-grade fold down beds will provide a comfortable night’s rest to parents, giving them the strength and clarity of mind they require to support their families during a trying time.
The children will benefit too: having a parent nearby has been proven to provide comfort and reduce stress during hospitalisation.
Bed project details
Each custom-built, hospital-grade pull-down bed costs $5,000.
A gift of $5,000 will be recognised and celebrated with a plaque on the bed that you've donated, whether you give as an individual, an organisation or a group.
Purchasing a bed breaks down to under $14 a day, which is your daily coffee and sandwich.
Every donation to our project – big or small - counts.
Be the difference
Imagine if you played an active part in bringing one (or more!) of the 60 parent beds to the children’s facilities. Your gift makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the families whose hospital stays will be more comfortable.
