Lee Robinson is many things: a lawyer, an ardent cricket fan, and most recently, one of the recipients of the NZ Order of Merit from the Queen of England. Just over a year ago, Māia was the recipient of a $1.2M donation from the Rainbow Children’s Trust, an organisation chaired by Lee. He’s now received the greatest of gold stars, yet it’s clear he’s not stopping. Here’s what he hopes to see Māia and the greater community accomplish next.
“When I was first learning about Māia, I saw that its existence was necessary. The Rainbow Children’s Trust was in search of a vehicle that could make great things happen for paediatric services at Christchurch Hospital, and Māia was an obvious choice. We made our donation knowing our funds would be well applied.
My experience in hospital was one where the service was superb, but the environment left something to be desired. The government can only provide funds for the basic necessities in our hospitals. As a community, we need to come together to provide the extra embellishments necessary to create all aspects of a world-class health system. With the support of the community, Māia can realise those improvements.”Back to
