Help create a better NICU for the South Island’s most critically unwell newborns.

Christchurch Hospital’s NICU provides specialist care for babies from across the South Island. It is where families arrive in moments of shock, uncertainty and hope.

The staff provide extraordinary care every day. But the environment no longer meets the level of demand placed on it.

Māia Health Foundation is partnering with Health New Zealand on a $16 million redevelopment of Christchurch NICU.

The redevelopment will increase capacity to 54 neonatal cots and improve clinical care. Māia Health Foundation is raising $2.1 million to fund the elements that make the new NICU more supportive for families, including whānau rooms, overnight spaces, comfortable recliners, breastfeeding chairs, privacy screens, artwork and equipment that supports staff training.

These are not extras. For parents spending weeks or months beside their baby, they make a real difference.

Your donation will help create a calmer, warmer and more private space for families during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives.

Please give today. Your gift will help bring comfort, privacy and support to families in Christchurch NICU.
